/  Wedding Info   /  How to plan a successful “First Look” for your Wedding Day

First look? Let’s look at options.

Not everyone has a traditional style first look, and neither choice is wrong. But as your big day is approaching, you’re probably wondering whether you want to wait until you walk down the aisle for your big reveal, or have a special moment between the two of you before the ceremony. Don’t let us decide how to plan your special day, here’s some information to help.

Here are a few things to consider if you have your first look down the aisle,

  • We get to capture an emotional moment on camera. A wedding is an extremely intimate and very emotional day. We are able to capture that emotion in front of all of your friends and family.)
  • You may be spending more time after the ceremony taking photos with your bridesmaids, groomsmen, friends and family. We may not be able to get a full album captured if not enough time is allocated after the ceremony.
  • The lighting may not be to your advantage. Sometimes your ceremony location is in a beautiful area, but the sun might be burning your retinas during the ceremony.

Here are a few things to consider if you have your first look before your ceremony

  • You get an intimate moment with your partner. I don’t believe the first look spoils a ceremony. I believe it gives you a moment to take a breath with your partner and relax before the big moment.
  • You may have to get ready earlier. If you would like more photos in your final album with the two of you together, we recommend having a first look before the ceremony. It also allows for more photos with your wedding party and less time trying to hide the soon-to-be newlyweds.
  • The lighting may not be to your advantage. Usually, these photos are done around 11am-2pm which also happens to be the worst time of the day to take photos. But don’t worry! Normally we can always find a shady area and make the best of what we have.
